COLUMBUS, Ohio— Jurors in the trial of the former Mount Carmel doctor accused of murder found William Husel not guilty.
The former physician was charged with 14 counts of murder after the prosecutors said he over-medicated patients under his care, leading to their death.
The nearly 8-week-long trial saw testimony from over 50 witnesses, as well as a motion to remove Judge Michael Holbrook from presiding over the case.
Husel throughout the proceedings maintained his innocence stating that he had done nothing wrong and was simply providing palliative care.
High-profile attorney, Jose Baez who represented William Husel during the trial said, “Why will this man risk his family, his career, 17 years of trying to be a doctor, every single thing he has worked for, to hasten someone’s death or to kill them?”
Husel’s medical license was suspended in January of 2019.
