Betty English Claibourne Fenner

Betty English Claibourne Fenner, age 91, of Hillsboro, went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday afternoon, May 13, 2022 at the Crestwood Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro. She was born January 3, 1931 in a simple farmhouse in Highland County, the daughter of James & Lorhea (Faris) English.  A 1949 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Betty later worked many years as a teacher’s aide at Webster Elementary School. She was a faithful member of the Marshall Church of Christ. She loved the Lord, her family, her 3 churches over the years, traveling, singing, and helping make others smile. She faithfully kept the personal commitment she made to Jesus Christ as a youth. Through work, parenthood, widowhood, remarriage, crippling arthritis, and other physical limitations that accompany aging, she remained an example of grace, contentment, and compassion, keeping her sense of humor and her unique ability to always see the best in a particular person or situation. Most of all, she continued to walk with God and be a blessing to others throughout her life.  In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, George Claibourne, Jr. (1966) and her twin brother, Bill English. She is survived by her husband of more than 36 years, Eddy R. Fenner; two sons: Tim Claibourne of Hillsboro and Tom (Linnea) Claibourne of Winchester; A step-daughter, Karen (Dan) Hamilton of Croton, Ohio; Seven grandchildren: Sarah (Ryan) Casper, Mark (Jenny) Hamilton, Heidi Claibourne, Haley Claibourne, Leah (Evan) King, Anya (Will) Masse, and Micah Claibourne; Eight great-grandchildren; One cousin John Faris; Three special nephews: Mark, Randy and Alex Butler.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday May 17, 2022 at the Marshall Church of Christ.  Dan Hamilton and Tom Stoops will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall Church of Christ, 10611 S.R. 124, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
