CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A teenager says a stranger grabbed her while at a local Chillicothe park this week with her two-year-old cousin.

According to a police report obtained by the Guardian, a 16-year-old was at the “Southern Playground” near Lincoln Park when she was approached by, what reports say was a homeless man.

A family member told police that the man lived in a nearby wooded area close to the apartment complex. The family member went on to say that the teen tried to leave, but the man refused to let her cousin go.

In a later interview, the girl told the police that the man commented if she went to where he lived, he would go and buy her and her young cousin something to eat. That is when the man, according to the report, grabbed the teen’s arm, not allowing her to escape.

The 16-year-old told officers that she threatened to hit the man and that her uncle was walking down the road toward the playground. The man, reports say, eventually let go of the girl before fleeing from the scene.

The incident, officials say, remains under investigation.
