CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Detectives in Chillicothe are investigating a second reported incident at a local city park. This time, the victim, a young teen, said she was sexually assaulted.

According to a police report obtained by the Guardian, the parents of the teen met with officers earlier this month. The parents told police officials that their daughter was assaulted in Yoctangee Park in May of this year.

In a statement provided to detectives, the parents said their daughter was “scared and embarrassed” to come forward.

The report says the attack happened as it started to get dark after the victim received a ride from the alleged suspect. Officials told the Guardian the reported perpetrator was known by the victim and the assault allegedly occurred inside their vehicle.

Detectives say the case is still open and the investigation into the alleged sexual assault is still ongoing.

No further details were released at this time.

Captain Michael Short of the Chillicothe Police Department reminds citizens that the park “areas are patrolled regularly during their shifts, and if anyone has a safety issue or complaint to contact the Chillicothe Police Department immediately at 740-773-1191.”
