CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A 20-year-old man was arrested in Chillicothe after police say he attempted to fill a fake prescription at a local pharmacy.
According to the Chillicothe Police Department, Abdullahi Abdukadir Osman was arrested after the Pharmacist said he had received a call from a supposed doctor out of Washington State. The prescription was for promethazine with codeine. The medication, according to the Mayo Clinic, “is used to relieve cough, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, or other symptoms caused by allergies or the common cold”.
Officers with the police department told the pharmacist to call them if someone arrived to pick up the medication.
The report provided to the Guardian by police officials says Osman and another individual arrived to pick up the prescription. It was then officers spoke with the man who claimed the call-in prescription was real. When officers attempted to call the doctor who allegedly prescribed the medication, the phone was not a working number.
Osman was arrested at the scene and charged with “Deception to Obtain a Dangerous Drug”.
