CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department is investigating a reported shooting in Yoctangee Park.
According to reports provided to the Guardian, officers responded to the park shortly before 11 p.m. on September 14 after dispatchers received a call of shots fired in the area.
Officers arrived in the park and spoke with the caller, who said someone had shouted obscenities regarding the homeless population in Chillicothe and then opened fire.
The caller told police that the person was driving a silver sedan.
When asked what the individual said the two witnesses stated that the man yelled, “Show your face and I’ll cure the problem” before firing a handgun.
Witnesses told police that the driver fled the park, driving onto Mill Street.
Officers said they canvassed the immediate area but were unable to locate any shell casings.
The case, authorities said, remains under investigation.
