PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Shawnee State University’s Shawnee Game Conference (SGC) has revealed its keynote speakers for the 2023 event. Jarryd Huntley and Timothy Rodabaugh will be this year’s headliners, and the conference is set to take place on March 10th and 11th.
According to the announcement, Timothy Rodabaugh is a seasoned software engineer with over 20 years of experience, having worked on various software systems for the U.S. Department of Defense. He has spent the past 11 years as the lead engineer for the Air Force Research Laboratory in the Gaming Research Integration for Learning Laboratory (GRILL), which leverages commercial off-the-shelf technologies, including gaming, and applies them to the military domain. Rodabaugh’s keynote address, titled “Using Game Technology for Military Modeling and Simulation,” will be held on Friday, March 10th at 12 p.m. in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.
Jarryd Huntley, on the other hand, is the lead performance engineer at Owlchemy Labs. He is also an active member of Cleveland’s game development community, organizing events and teaching classes. Huntley was the lead programmer for “We are OFK” and co-authored the book “Game Programming for Artists” in 2017. With talks at universities and conferences worldwide, he brings a unique perspective from both his enterprise software engineering background and professional music career. His studio, Polytundra LLC, released its first title “Art Club Challenge” in 2018, which was featured in the 2017 Smithsonian American Art Museum Arcade. Huntley’s keynote address, “Your Career – Charting Your Path Forward,” will be held on Saturday, March 11th at 3 p.m. in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.
The SGC is the longest-running academic game conference in the Midwest and aims to bring together all aspects of gaming, including gamers, programmers, developers, promoters, designers, educators, industry specialists, and enthusiasts.
