ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A Ross County grandmother says her 9-month-old grandchild overdosed on suspected Fentanyl after visiting a public restroom at a Bainbridge gas station.

According to a report from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Nationwide Childrens Hospital alerted authorities after the child tested positive for the illicit drug.

The grandmother, reports say, told investigators that she had stopped at the gas station to get some food and to use the restroom. She went on to tell detectives that she suffered from Crohn’s Disease and had placed the child on the floor while using the bathroom.

A short time later, statements read, the grandmother noticed the child turning blue and becoming limp. She reportedly gave the child a dose of Narcan that she carried with her. The child, the woman said, then became alert and was behaving normally. It was not until the next morning that the child would be taken to the hospital after they appeared to be groggy.

Child Protective Services was notified of the incident and drug-tested the child’s parents and grandmother who all passed.

The incident, officials said, is still being investigated.
