COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohioans are invited to turn their love for the great outdoors into a chance to win big prizes through the 2023 Ohio State Parks Photo Contest. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Parks and Watercraft is coordinating the contest, which runs until April 4. Participants can submit up to five photos taken at one of Ohio’s 75 state parks, with each image falling under one of the following categories: Main Character Moment, Sidekick Shenanigans, Homebase Harmony, Seasonal Surprises, or Hero’s Journey.
According to ODNR Director Mary Mertz, “Ohio State Parks truly offer people the chance for adventure, memory-making, and scenic backdrops in every direction. We are so excited to see the parks showcased through the perspective of visitors statewide.” To be eligible, photos must have been taken after January 1, 2022.

Submissions can be made through the contest’s official website, and winners will be contacted on May 5. Tyler Technologies, ODNR’s reservation management provider, is sponsoring the contest, with the grand prize being a GoPro Hero10 waterproof camera. Second and third place winners will also receive prizes, while winners of the People’s Choice in each category will get a free night of camping at any Ohio State Park campground.
With so many beautiful and scenic state parks in Ohio, there’s no shortage of opportunities for amateur and professional photographers alike to capture picture-perfect moments in nature. So grab your camera and start snapping those shots before the April 4 deadline!
