CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — On Friday, March 31, a local was arrested after brandishing a gun at the Ross County Community Action Office at 250 Woodbridge Ave.
Upon arrival, officers contacted an employee who stated that a man, later identified as Michael Cydrus, had entered the building and showed her a rifle he had concealed in his pants. The employee reported that Michael had made threatening statements about taking care of a man, but did not provide further details. She also claimed that Michael had previously made comments about harming staff or setting the building on fire.

Officers then made contact with Cydrus, who denied any wrongdoing and claimed that he had left the building to cash a check and get some food. When asked about the weapon, he allegedly admitted to having one but claimed he no longer had it on his person and did not know where it was located.
Due to the uncertainty of the weapon’s whereabouts, Michael Cydrus, officials said, was detained and searched, and the surrounding area was checked for any sign of the weapon. After an unsuccessful search, Michael was charged with Carry Concealed Weapon, Weapons under Disability, and Aggravated Menacing, and transported to the Ross County Jail.
According to court records, he has been previously convicted of Aggravated Arson, Vehicular Assault, Assault, Aggravated Menacing, Domestic Menacing, and Drug Paraphernalia.
He is currently in custody and awaiting further legal proceedings.
