ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A Ross County woman, Candy Taylor, has been charged with aggravated arson this week by the Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office after a fire severely damaged two homes on March 27. Local authorities and fire departments responded to the scene, where all occupants of both houses were safely evacuated.
Taylor was among the residents of one of the affected houses. The house, owned by a landlord and rented out to the family, is now considered unlivable. A garage located at the rear of the property was completely destroyed, and a camper in the backyard was partially damaged. The Red Cross was provided with Taylor’s contact information to offer assistance.
The owner of the second affected house was not present at the time of the incident. A family member was on the scene and informed authorities that the family was living in the house. The neighboring fire significantly impacted their home, and their contact information was also given to the Red Cross for support.
Photos of the scene were taken for further investigation, and emergency personnel remained on site to offer assistance. Candy Taylor’s alleged involvement in the arson case is under investigation, and the case will be presented to the next session of the Ross County Grand Jury.
