CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man has been sentenced to 8 1/2 years in prison after pleading guilty to hiding the remains of a missing local man. Brad Lanman was indicted in December 2022 on multiple charges related to the death of Larry Davis Jr., who was reported missing in March of that year. Davis’ remains were found in July, inside a plastic tote at a residence on Poplar Street in Chillicothe.

According to sources, detectives executed a search warrant on the property, during which they discovered items belonging to Davis. Lanman subsequently pleaded guilty to concealing Davis’ remains.
Lanman’s codefendant, Shelly K. McGuire, is set to stand trial later this month. Sources close to the victim’s family say that McGuire was in a relationship with Lanman at the time of the discovery of Davis’ remains. McGuire faces charges of tampering with evidence, attempted abuse of a corpse, and failure to report a death.
The cause of Davis’ death has not been released by authorities, leaving many in the community wondering if someone may have gotten away with murder.
