CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe Intermediate School on Arch Street went on lockdown after a threat on Thursday.
The lockdown went into effect around noon on Thursday as students were in session with staff members.
“After consulting with law enforcement, there was information that did not give reason to believe it was a credible threat. However, out of an abundance of caution and safety of students/staff, the school was placed on lockdown. After a thorough search of the interior and exterior, no credible threat was found and the lockdown was lifted at 1:20,” the school’s principal, Josh Tripp said.
No one was permitted to enter or leave the school. Students remained in place in their classrooms and continued to learn, a message from the school sent to parents said.
The nature of the threat was not immediately released, and the superintendent said Chillicothe Police and Ross County Sheriff’s Deputies are at the school investigating.
