ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio Highway Patrol, in a remarkable double recovery, found two stolen vehicles in Ross County on Thursday, resulting in an arrest and possible indictment.

The first incident occurred in the 1400 block of SR 72, Chillicothe. A 2003 Toyota Camry, previously reported stolen due to unauthorized use, was observed by a trooper parked at a local house. Collaborating with Ross County Sheriff’s Office, the trooper waited near the residence for backup before attempting to recover the vehicle.

Upon arrival at the property, the law enforcement officials successfully recovered the stolen Camry. A person present at the residence was arrested on an unrelated outstanding warrant. The Sheriff’s office took over the handling of the stolen vehicle case, as well as the warrant arrest.

In a second unrelated incident in Paxton Township, in the 4000 block of Potts Hill, the same trooper spotted another stolen vehicle, a 2016 Honda Civic. Making contact with the driver of the vehicle, the trooper managed to recover the car without incident. The driver of the stolen vehicle may face indictment later.

The Honda Civic was towed to be returned to its rightful owner.

The two recoveries underscore the collaboration between the Ohio Highway Patrol and the Ross County Sheriff’s Office in responding to vehicle thefts, and highlight their ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of Ross County residents’ property.
