JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio — A school bus and a pickup truck crashed in Jackson County on Tuesday morning, resulting in a minor injury.
The crash occurred at the intersection of State Route 93 and McCarty Lane in Lick Township. A 2023 Thomas Built School Bus was traveling northbound on State Route 93 when it was struck on the right rear by a 2014 Toyota Tundra pickup that was traveling westbound on McCarty Lane. The Toyota failed to yield at the intersection.
The school bus driver, Ellen Luster, 58, of Jackson, Ohio, was not injured. The bus passenger aide, Robin Reynolds, 41, of Jackson, Ohio, sustained a minor injury and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The pickup truck driver, Jackson Powell, 81, of McArthur, Ohio, was cited for failure to yield.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol would like to remind motorists to always be mindful of school bus safety and to be vigilant during pick-up and drop-off hours. When approaching a school bus with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, motorists must stop their vehicles and wait until the bus has pulled away before proceeding.
