CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is advising motorists of upcoming construction projects that will impact roadways in both Ross and Pike Counties starting next week (April 3rd, 2024).
Ross County Projects
- U.S. 23 Intersection Improvement: Construction begins April 8th to install a “turbo lane” at the intersection of U.S. 23 and Trego Creek Road. While daily work is anticipated for the project’s duration, at least one lane of U.S. 23 is expected to remain open throughout construction. Completion is slated for Fall 2024.
- U.S. 35 Resurfacing: A resurfacing project kicks off April 15th on U.S. 35 between State Route 138 and the Fayette County line. Similar to the U.S. 23 project, daily work is expected with at least one lane of U.S. 35 maintained for traffic flow. This project is anticipated to be completed by Summer 2024.
Pike County Projects
- State Route 104 Bridge Replacement: For those traveling through Pike County, be aware of the ongoing bridge replacement project on State Route 104 between State Route 32 and Long Fork Road. While the route remains open until June 1st, a full closure in both directions is expected for approximately two weeks thereafter. During the closure, traffic will be detoured via State Route 32 to US Route 23 and then to State Route 348. Following the closure, the southbound lane of State Route 104 will be accessible from State Route 32.
- State Route 772 Slide Repair & County Road 50 Slide Repair: These projects are ongoing. State Route 772 between McKinney Road and State Route 124 has single-lane closures with temporary signals managing traffic flow. The project is expected to conclude by fall 2024. County Road 50 (Watson Road) between Mutton Run Road and Hay Hollow Road remains closed for the duration of its slide repair project, with a completion date of Summer 2024. Northbound traffic on County Road 50 is detoured via State Route 335 to Higby Road and then Old State Route 35. Southbound drivers can use Old State Route 35 to Higby Road and then State Route 335.
Super Load Advisory
Motorists in both Ross and Pike Counties should also be aware of a super load traveling north from Adams County beginning April 3rd. This oversized and overweight vehicle may cause temporary traffic slowdowns on its designated route.
