GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio — A Gallia County man, 47-year-old James E. Phoenix, pleaded guilty to weapons charges earlier this week.

The charges stemmed from Phoenix possessing weapons while under a disability and his involvement in discharging a firearm near a prohibited location.

Originally set for a jury trial, Phoenix abruptly changed his plea to guilty before the proceedings began.

Scheduled for sentencing on May 8th, 2024, he faces a potential maximum sentence of six years in prison. The Gallia County Prosecutor’s Office intends to seek the full penalty.
