CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – Police in Chillicothe discovered over a dozen dogs in a suspected abandoned home on May 23, 2024.
Officers responded to a report of three loose dogs in an alley behind 181 Gerber Road. The dogs led police to the backyard of 253 Western Avenue, where approximately 12-14 additional dogs were found.
Upon investigation, the house appeared vacant, prompting officers to contact the Ross County Dog Warden. A warrant for the dogs was obtained from the county judge and the animals were removed from the home due to deplorable conditions.
The homeowner’s identity remains unconfirmed, but police contacted an individual, believed to be the homeowner’s son. The dog warden, according to the report, said they would follow up with the individual regarding the incident.
