NEW HOLLAND, Ohio — The trial for Chris Agin, who was indicted in April of last year on charges of intimidation of a victim in a criminal case and violating a protection order, is set to begin today.
The charges against Agin stem from an incident last spring when he allegedly broke into the home of a New Holland woman in the 27000 block of Route 207. Deputies and troopers responded to the scene after Agin reportedly forced his way into the home. A subsequent manhunt ensued, with aviation assistance requested to aid in the search. Agin was allegedly discovered several hours later hiding in a crawl space inside the home.
Reports suggest that Agin had been harassing the family and had faced multiple arrests for violating a temporary protection order. Additionally, Agin is accused of sending threatening messages and letters to the family, further exacerbating their fears.
The trial was scheduled to begin in 2023, but a competency hearing held up the legal proceedings.
The Guardian will provide updates as the court proceedings commence.
