WASHINGTON, D.C. — Kawasaki Motors Corp. USA has announced a recall for engines used in various brands of lawn and garden equipment due to fire and burn hazards. The recall, dated June 6, 2024, affects approximately 68,500 units in the United States and an additional 900 units in Canada.
The engines, which can overheat, are installed in equipment from Bad Boy Mowers, BigDog, Bobcat, Cub Cadet, Hustler, John Deere, and Kubota. The affected models include a range of mowers and utility vehicles, such as the Bad Boy Mowers Rebel, Rogue, and Revolt series; BigDog Stout MP; Bobcat ZT6000, ZT6100, and ZT7000; Cub Cadet ZTX6; Hustler FasTrak SDX; John Deere Gator TS 4×2, Gator TX 4×2, and Z760R, as well as service engines for lawn tractor models X350R, X350, X354, and X370; and Kubota Z726XKW.
The recalled engines are from model years 2021-2023 and include the FJ400D, FS600V, FS651V, FX691V, FX730V, FX801V, FX850V, and FXT00V. Consumers can identify the recalled engines by the model and serial numbers located on the engine fan housing.
Kawasaki Motors urges consumers to immediately cease using the affected lawn and garden equipment and contact their respective equipment manufacturer or an authorized dealer to arrange a free repair. Kawasaki and the mower manufacturers are directly contacting all known purchasers.
Owners of Bad Boy Mowers should visit the dedicated recall page to confirm if their mower is affected.
