VINTON COUNTY, Ohio — On Monday evening, a 12-year-old boy from McArthur was injured in a collision involving his bicycle and a minivan. The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Jackson Post reported that Damien R. Reid was riding his bike northbound on South Spring Street when he failed to yield at a stop sign. As he entered the intersection with Main Street, he was struck by a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Hillary D. Saunders, 49, of Hamden.
The accident occurred around 5:54 PM. Damien was transported by Vinton County Emergency Medical Services and later flown by MedFlight to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Mrs. Saunders was not injured in the incident.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, with assistance from the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office, Vinton County EMS, and MedFlight.
