ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The case against Samantha Stilson and Wesley Boyer, who were arrested earlier this month on allegations of child abuse, has been dropped, according to recent court records.

Stilson and Boyer were taken into custody following reports that a 12-year-old girl had been zip-tied to a bed. The charges against them, including felony kidnapping and child abuse, were dismissed at the request of law enforcement.

The Ross County Sheriff’s Office initially responded on August 8 to a call from a man who reported that his daughter received a text about the child being restrained. Upon arrival at the residence on Water Street in Richmond Dale, deputies found the 12-year-old zip-tied to a bed, appearing distressed. The deputy used a knife to free the child, and an ambulance was called to assess her condition.

According to the initial report, the children alleged that Stilson had restrained the girl for several days to prevent messes while she was at work. They also claimed that Stilson had been physically and verbally abusive, including using sticks and choking a child. The deputies described the home as “incredibly messy” and unfit for children.

Stilson has maintained her innocence, asserting that the charges were part of a setup.
