CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department and Ross County Sheriff’s Office experienced an unexpected disruption in its communication services Saturday, leaving their non-emergency phone lines temporarily out of order. In response, the department issued a public statement, urging residents to remain calm and continue to use 911 in the event of any emergencies.
The statement, released via social media, reads:
“Our non-emergency phone lines are down. If you have an emergency, still call 911. We will update when back up.”
Authorities are actively working to resolve the issue and will provide updates as soon as the non-emergency lines are restored. In the meantime, residents are asked to refrain from attempting to reach the department through the affected lines.
No further details were provided on the cause of the outage, but local officials have reassured the public that emergency services remain fully operational.
Power outages, phone lines, and internet issues have persisted across the state since early Friday after the remnants of Hurricane Helene entered Ohio.
