OHIO — As of 5:00 p.m. today, power restoration efforts continue across Southern Ohio, where over 13,600 customers remain without electricity following the extreme winds and rain from Hurricane Helene. Initially, the storm left 83,000 Ohioans without power. Utility companies like AEP Ohio and South Central Power have restored power to approximately 83% of customers.
Current AEP outages in the region include:
- Pike County: 1,648
- Ross County: 1,599
- Scioto County: 3,193
Crews are working to restore power. AEP has deployed over 1,400 line workers, tree trimmers, and support personnel. As restoration efforts are completed in certain areas, teams are being shifted to southern Ohio to address the more heavily affected regions.
The Chillicothe area, which includes Ross, Pike, and Pickaway Counties, is expected to see full restoration by 11 p.m. Tuesday. This area includes outages in and around Chillicothe, Piketon, Waverly, Circleville, and Richmond Dale.
Residents are advised to remain patient as crews work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
