A local elementary school has their first positive COVID-19 case.

It was announced Monday night by Circleville Elementary that someone within the building has tested positive for the deadly virus.

The announcement by the school did not say if it was a staff member or student who tested positive.

The district is sending a letter to parents for those who may have had contact with the person who tested positive.

“If you have not or do not receive this letter by mail or sent home with your student, it was deemed that your child did not share a classroom space with this individual,” the district said.

Due to privacy laws, Circleville City Schools will be unable to provide further specifics on affected individuals. If you have concerns, the health department can be reached at 740-477-9667 option 2 for clinical staff.
