CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A 35-year-old Chillicothe man was killed early Friday in a hit-skip crash on state Route 159 near milepost 3, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers say Bruce M. Hardesty, 28, of Chillicothe, was driving southbound in a dark blue 2008 Chevrolet Uplander when he struck pedestrian Frankie J. Bostwick at approximately 5:44 a.m. Hardesty fled the scene, abandoning his vehicle near 221 N. Bridge St. in Chillicothe, authorities said.
Bostwick was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Hardesty was later located and is currently being held at the Ross County Law Enforcement Complex, troopers said.
The Chillicothe Police Department, Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Chillicothe Fire Department, and Ohio Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
