PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Authorities in Scioto County are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead Monday night, according to Sheriff David Thoroughman.

The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 9:40 p.m., from a person who reported finding their friend unresponsive at a residence on Millers Run Fallen Timber Road. The caller suspected the individual was deceased.

Deputies, detectives, and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, where they confirmed the death as a homicide. The victim was identified as Rocky L. Jordan, 59.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting with the ongoing investigation, Sheriff Thoroughman said.
