WAVERLY, Ohio — Voters in Pike County turned out at a rate of 21.31% for Tuesday’s general election, casting 3,626 ballots out of 17,017 registered voters, according to unofficial results released by the county board of elections.

The election centered on local races for village councils, township trustees and school boards, along with several tax levies and local liquor options, with no statewide or national contests in the county summary. All results are unofficial and include votes from absentee, Election Day, early voting and provisional ballots, with all 22 precincts reporting.

In Piketon Village, four council seats drew 591 votes from 1,306 registered voters (20.52% turnout). Dennis James Foreman led with 168 votes (28.43%), followed by Ryan Lee Clemmons with 149 (25.21%), Jordan A. Cutler with 147 (24.87%) and Jennifer Chandler with 127 (21.49%). No party affiliations were listed.

Waverly Village saw unopposed winners across multiple council races. For the at-large seat, Thomas Lee Patterson received 388 votes (100%) from 2,745 registered voters (23.57% turnout). For the at-large unexpired term, Sherre D. Kinnison got 356 votes (100%). Ward-specific winners included David W. Bevens in Ward 1 with 76 votes (100%), John R. Gedeon in Ward 2 with 141 votes (100%), Amber M. Wilkes in Ward 3 with 80 votes (100%) and Brian L. Blakeman in Ward 5 with 43 votes (100%).

Township trustee races, each for two seats, unfolded across the county:

  • Beaver Township: Kenny Lee Bobst (83 votes, 52.20%) and Scott A. Schrader (76 votes, 47.80%) from 793 registered voters (14.38% turnout).
  • Benton Township: Kelly Shepherd (160 votes, 62.02%) and Todd Montgomery (98 votes, 37.98%) from 958 registered (21.82% turnout).
  • Camp Creek Township: David Kinnison (62 votes, 52.99%) and Donnie Dyke (55 votes, 47.01%) from 624 registered (14.58% turnout).
  • Jackson Township: Todd A. Jackson (141 votes, 35.70%), Lee Whitt (118 votes, 29.87%), Johnny Cydrus (84 votes, 21.27%) and Johnny Cydrus Jr. (52 votes, 13.16%) from 775 registered (31.35% turnout).
  • Marion Township: Joseph Peter Balzer (106 votes, 67.09%) and Trenton Dwight Otworth (52 votes, 32.91%) from 831 registered (14.80% turnout).
  • Mifflin Township: Charles Darren Hannah (128 votes, 47.23%), Charles J. Claytor Jr. (88 votes, 32.47%) and Brandon A. Brewster (55 votes, 20.30%) from 654 registered (27.68% turnout).
  • Newton Township: Bryce Wooldridge (191 votes, 63.04%) and Mike Wickline (112 votes, 36.96%) from 1,222 registered (20.05% turnout).
  • Pebble Township: Michael L. Ratliff (218 votes, 38.11%), Gary W. Goble (160 votes, 27.97%), Richard Lee Beasley (100 votes, 17.48%) and James Norman (94 votes, 16.43%) from 1,489 registered (26.33% turnout).
  • Pee Pee Township: Rodney L. Leffler (275 votes, 50.93%) and James H. Helton (265 votes, 49.07%) from 2,261 registered (19.86% turnout).
  • Perry Township: A four-way contest for two seats among Darrell Wayne Carter (42 votes, 28.00%), Scott M. Cooper (38 votes, 25.33%), Bruce A. Nance (38 votes, 25.33%) and John Wayne Jenkins (32 votes, 21.33%) from 363 registered (25.07% turnout).
  • Scioto Township: Lewie Pritchett (120 votes, 39.87%), Bernard S. Neal (82 votes, 27.24%), Lou Thompson (67 votes, 22.26%) and Nancy Hicks (32 votes, 10.63%) from 668 registered (27.54% turnout).
  • Seal Township: John Jason Foster (279 votes, 51.57%) and Paul R. Goode (262 votes, 48.43%) from 2,011 registered (20.19% turnout).
  • Sunfish Township: Michael A. McCoy and Brock A. Wooldridge tied at 120 votes each (50.00%) from 715 registered (23.36% turnout).
  • Union Township: Todd Edward Gillenwater (46 votes, 50.55%) and William D. Tomlison (45 votes, 49.45%) from 908 registered (9.25% turnout).

School board races included:

  • Educational Service Center (two seats): Aaron Walls (1,200 votes, 59.14%) and Jeffrey M. Lucas (829 votes, 40.86%) from 9,979 registered (19.48% turnout across 15 of 16 precincts).
  • Eastern Local School District (three seats): Brad Bapst (186 votes, 35.91%), Mike Rowe (183 votes, 35.33%) and Mickey L. Atkins (149 votes, 28.76%) from 2,539 registered (12.68% turnout).
  • Scioto Valley Local School District (three seats): Darrell Reno (781 votes, 33.39%), Julie Galloway (554 votes, 23.69%), Aaron B. Lapp (552 votes, 23.60%) and Brian Birkhimer (452 votes, 19.32%) from 5,111 registered (20.99% turnout across six of seven precincts).
  • Waverly City School District (three seats): Josh Remy (1,032 votes, 30.35%), Diane M. Crabtree (884 votes, 26.00%), Braydon Lewis Bevens (761 votes, 22.38%) and Ann C. Oyer (723 votes, 21.26%) from 7,038 registered (23.90% turnout).
  • Western Local School District (three seats): Karlota May (320 votes, 29.47%), Tyler Wessel (272 votes, 25.05%), Dillon Guilkey (250 votes, 23.02%) and Debra L. Grooms (244 votes, 22.47%) from 2,329 registered (23.57% turnout).

Countywide, voters approved a levy for Pike County MRDD (now known as Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities), with 2,199 yes votes (62.00%) to 1,348 no (38.00%).

Fire protection levies passed in Waverly Village (404 yes, 63.72% to 230 no, 36.28%), Pebble Township (292 yes, 75.26% to 96 no, 24.74%) and Pee Pee Township (332 yes, 74.27% to 115 no, 25.73%). Seal Township/Piketon Village also approved its levy, 310 yes (76.73%) to 94 no (23.27%).

Local liquor options for Sunday sales yielded mixed results: Yes votes prevailed at Ozzy’s Drive Thru (56, 51.38% to 53 no, 48.62%) and Beaver Memorial VFW Post 9942 (49, 58.33% to 35 no, 41.67%). But Piketon Duchess saw a narrow rejection, 132 yes (49.62%) to 134 no (50.38%).
