Protestors block streets in Chillicothe during BLM movement

Dozens of people are blocking traffic in Chillicothe. It is all in response to Black Lives Matter protests around the country.

Nearly 25 people blocked Water Street in Chillicothe late in the evening, while others stopped traffic on Paint Street.

The protesters held signs and shouted chants.

The Chillicothe Police Department has ordered their officers to only monitor the situation and to act only if violence irrupts.

The movement comes after a man named George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis by a former police officer who has since been charged in the death.

The Scioto Valley Guardian is the #1 local news source for the Scioto Valley. The Guardian was previously two publications, Fayette Advocate (2012) and Chillicothe Guardian (2018), respectively.
