The search for a missing kayaker has ended after a third day.
The man went missing Sunday afternoon along Paint Creek near Rapid Forge Road and route 50 in Ross County with a group of friends. Witnesses say the man toppled a kayak and did not resurface when trying to swim to shore.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources scoured the creek with dive teams and cadaver dogs; dogs trained in locating deceased bodies. While the state has not said they believe the man is deceased, cadaver dogs would indicate that they have not ruled out the possibility.
The teams are focused primarily on a stretch of waterway between Rapid Forge Road and route 41.
The search will resume Wednesday, according to ODNR.
The man’s name has not been released.
