An officer involved shooting occurred in Pike County on Monday.
The Sheriff reports that troopers were pursuing a vehicle early Monday morning in a high-speed chase before it was terminated. Later that morning, deputies with the Sheriff’s office spotted the car and gave their own chase, which led to a dead-end on Spunk Run Road.
Once there, deputies ordered four suspects out of the car, but the people refused. During some point, the Sheriff said the deputy fired a shot, striking one of the suspects after the car started “charging” the deputy.
No deputies were injured and the suspect who was shot was taken to Grant Medical in Columbus.
The Sheriff said that 19-year-old Trey Reed was the driver and has been charged, but the Sheriff did not say if Reed was the one shot.
Ohio BCI was called to the scene to investigate. The three other suspects were taken into custody. Their charges or names were not released by the Sheriff.
