Harley Lutz, Jr., 92, of Chillicothe, died 1:35 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born September 9, 1928, in Pickaway County, Ohio, to the late Harley and Althea Crago Lutz. On March 25, 1950, he married the former Clara June Bates who died January 31, 2010.
Surviving are children, Vicki J. Lutz, William “Hal” (Marsha K.) Lutz and Rebecca “Becky” (Matthew) Hurff, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Jeremy (Jenny) Hurff, Chad (Danielle) Hurff, both of Chillicothe, Katie (David) McCorkle, of Powell, OH, Mark (Erin) Lutz, Joshua (Brandy Curtis) Lutz, of Chillicothe, William H. “Hal” Lutz, II, of Chillicothe and Jessica (Brad Fornier) Lutz, of Galloway, OH; 17 great grandchildren; a brother, Tom (Shirley) Lutz, of Circleville; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special nephew Bruce Rutherford, of Stoutsville, OH. He was predeceased by siblings, Dorothy Seaburn, Earl Lutz, Cecil Lutz, Maxine Anderson, Pauline Fizer, Russell Lutz, Bill Lutz and Florence Hone.
Harley retired from Kenworth Truck Company on April 1, 1995 and had also delivered Carling Black Label Beer for Streitenberger Distributing for many years. He was a Past President and member of the Ross County Senior Citizens where he loved to play euchre every Thursday for many years. Harley was a family man and loved spending time with and supporting them in all of their activities. He will be missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Greg Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNEAL HOME from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Friday.
