ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A lightning strike caused a scare Monday evening.

The 9-1-1 call came in around 7:30 p.m., Monday, on reports that lightning had struck a residence on route 23 in Ross County. Crews responded to the home and found a small fire in the basement area. Firefighters on scene were able to quickly extinguish the fire before any major damage could occur.

Despite erroneous reporting by online blogs, the house, nor basement were ever engulfed in flames.
