What is happening with kids in Ross County? My morning check of the police reports for the city and county has me concerned. One recurring theme stands out: nearly half of the reports involve unruly children.
Things have drastically changed and not for the better.
Children raised by dysfunctional parents frequently grow up to become dysfunctional themselves, thus perpetuating the cycle.
We need to make investments in our children. We need to see a community that will invest in our children. What positive outlets are there in Ross County for young people? The park, skating rink, etc.? Youth-related activities are limited outside of a school setting.
Let’s talk about schools. Ross County students, particularly those at Unioto are fearful of going to school. Children should not have to live like that or attend a school where they feel unsafe.
We face a bleak future if we don’t teach our children if we don’t guide them in the right direction. Our responsibility for raising this next generation is critical.
It is time we as parents, community members, and school officials get our act together. Let’s put children first. Otherwise, we will lose this generation.
