ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio – The search for a missing man in Nelsonville may have ended after detectives discovered human remains on Wednesday.

On June 7, 2021, Bryan Bridgeman, 30, of Nelsonville, was reported missing. The Athens County Sheriff’s Office said that he left his residence on June 4. Since then, the sheriff’s office has looked into every possible lead to locate Mr. Bridgeman.

The investigation led to the arrest of Lindsey Woolever Coon for engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity along with other felony charges. Several search warrants were executed, officials say.

According to the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation has taken deputies to South Carolina and Alabama in the last couple of months. Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said the investigation has been supported by several other Ohio and out-of-state agencies.

As a result of updated information received Wednesday, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office and Athens County Prosecutor’s Office conducted a search near Mr. Bridgeman’s home. The Athens County Coroner’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene after deputies discovered human remains.

According to Captain Bryan Cooper, based on the evidence at hand, “it appears that the remains belong to Mr. Bridgeman”. More testing will be done, and the case remains under investigation.
