CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police have launched a criminal investigation into a body found in a garage.
The scene was sectioned off in an alley between Sugar Street and Scioto Avenue in Chillicothe around noon on Sunday.
Detectives from the police department were on the scene, and the county coroner was called in, as well.
According to reports, the unidentified woman was found by a resident when they went to retrieve an air compressor and found the woman in a garage in the alley.
Reports say the woman was found leaning against a pile of broken boards within the garage. Detectives on the scene said she appeared to have bruises on her face as well as other small cuts. The body was taken for an autopsy in Dayton.
Investigators spoke with neighbors who stated that they did not recognize the individual. One resident told law enforcement that they had previous issues with people breaking into the garage.
The nature of the death investigation was not immediately released. The identity of the person is pending official confirmation.
