CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Greenfield woman accused of animal cruelty will be arraigned in a Chillicothe courtroom today.
Cathy Cobb, 47, of Greenfield, faces charges following an investigation by the Ross County Dog Warden.
According to reports, in February, a resident contacted the Ross County Dog Warden regarding dogs inside an abandoned building. Officials with the Humane Society said the dog warden arrived at the location and made entry, finding several dogs in horrific condition.
The dog warden reported that the building had no electricity or water and was covered in feces. Inside were four dogs. Two of them, the Humane Society said, needed immediate medical attention. Officials say a 5-year-old Border Collie and a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees were taken to the North Fork Animal Clinic in serious condition.
At the animal clinic, reports say, it was discovered that the Border Collie had a microchip. The registered owner told investigators that she had given the dog to Cathy S. Cobb of Greenfield, the former owner of Watt Street Grooming and Pet Services.
Cobb faces multiple counts of animal cruelty and abandoning an animal.
