CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — OhioHealth has purchased a large plot of land in Chillicothe with anticipation to grow in the First Capital City.
The acquisition of ten acres involves four different parcels along Bridge Street. The exact location is 1900 North Bridge Street, which is next door to Tractor Supply Company (TSC) and on the site of where Tire Discounters used to be.
The purchase price of the land was $5.3 million — according to records from the county — and stretches from the highway to include a small plot of woods behind the main piece of land.
The Columbus-based health organization was mum on what their exact plans for the property were, but a representative told the Guardian that big goals were ahead.
“OhioHealth believes that having convenient access and local choice in healthcare is vital to a strong community,” said spokeswoman Teratia Welch. “That is why it’s important that we provide a wide range of both routine and advanced services in communities throughout southern Ohio. We are currently finalizing plans to bring new services to the corner of North Bridge Street in Chillicothe.“
The growth of one of the state’s largest health organizations in Chillicothe does not come as a surprise to many. The group recently opened a 15,000 square foot office on Bridge Street in the former OfficeMax building on Valentine’s Day. In that facility, they provide full-time heart and vascular and neurology physician services.
“ …. this purchase seems to be following the trend that we’ve seen from Bridge Street to downtown and into the county: that Chillicothe is a great place to invest, live and work,” commented Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney.
The big question on a lot of minds: will OhioHealth build an emergency room in Ross County? While Welch would not confirm or deny what the organization’s plans for the property are, she hinted at expanded services.
“We look forward to sharing additional details about services and scope in the near future as plans are finalized.”
The date for groundbreaking has not been announced.
I can not wait for the ground breaking!! This is the best thing that’s hit Chillicothe!!! Congratulations Ross county needs good healthcare!!!
