CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Law enforcement was engaged in a narcotics sweep in Chillicothe Saturday evening.
Residents across the city noticed a helicopter from the Ohio Highway Patrol circling overhead and multiple unmarked law enforcement vehicles.
Law enforcement confirmed to the Guardian that the sweep was for narcotics trafficking and wanted criminals. The aviation unit was used in conjunction with undercover officers positioned across the city.
The task force was made up of local police, troopers with the Highway Patrol, as well as various members of law enforcement from surrounding counties.
The operation, according to law enforcement, was focused primarily on the east end of Chillicothe.
Officials have yet to publicly comment on the success of the operation or the number of arrests made during the sweep if any.
