ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The human remains found yesterday along the 1200 block of Chester Hill Road has been identified as Lindsey Schobelock.
Schobelock was reported missing back in February of this year. Her vehicle was discovered along Windy Ridge Road only a few miles from where her body was found.
The Guardian broke the story of the search for human remains in rural Ross County.
On Monday, multiple deputies along with emergency personnel responded to the 1200 block of Chester Hill Road shortly after 12 p.m. after hunters discovered an abandoned campsite. The campsite, officials said, seemed suspicious. Deputies said the property belonging to a retired police officer from Chillicothe was the center of the search.
Around 3:45 p.m., the Ross County Coroner’s Office was requested to the scene. Reports say Schobelock’s remains were found a short distance from the abandoned campsite in a deeply wooded area.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the case remains under investigation. A cause of death has not been released at this time.
Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the detective bureau of the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.
