CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Dept. (CPD) has officially announced that the Independence Day fireworks show will take place on July 4th starting at 9:45 p.m.

For the ideal viewing experience, the police advise that attendees watch from the floodwall in Yoctangee Park. However, they ask individuals to not place tents or anything that would block the blacktop portion of the wall, as it creates a safety hazard for those trying to walk and obstructs emergency personnel from getting through.

Following the event, traffic will be directed out by Ohio State Highway Patrol. According to police, there will be no left for N/B traffic on High St. and Yoctangee Parkway. A detailed traffic map can be found by clicking here, as well as a map of restricted areas during the show.

CPD also advises that consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in the park, and illegal/prohibited fireworks are not permitted. Additionally, they ask that no fireworks or other pyrotechnics be set off in residential areas, as it disturbs both animals and residents.
