CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — In September of last year, the Guardian broke the story of a high school student who was accused of inappropriately touching a 6-year-old child on a Unioto school bus. The story enraged the local community as parents raised concerns regarding the safety of their children and the lack of transparency from the Superintendent’s Office and the Union-Scioto School Board.
David Lee Seymour, Jr., was indicted in March on two counts of gross sexual imposition and pandering sexually oriented matter involving a child. The child pornography, officials said, did not involve any students.
Seymour would go on to plead not guilty by reason of insanity.
According to court records obtained by the Guardian, following a lengthy evaluation, it was determined that Seymour was competent to stand trial. It is scheduled for February 7, of 2023.
He remains in custody at the Ross County Jail.
