JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio — A crash along route 327 in Jackson County claimed the life of a Wellston man on Saturday.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, 19-year-old Rogan Vickers was driving south on Route 327 shortly after 11 p.m. when he veered off the road and struck a guardrail multiple times.
Vickers and his passenger, 23-year-old Connor Bates, were both ejected from their 2007 Jeep Wrangler.
Rogan Vickers, officials say, was pronounced dead at the scene. Bates was transported by medical helicopter to the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus in serious condition.
Troopers say both occupants were not wearing seat belts at the time and that alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
