ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — An investigation into a fire along Hartwood Road in Ross County continues, says the Sheriff’s Office.
According to a report obtained by the Guardian, on Saturday, September 17, deputies and firefighters from Huntington Township responded to the rural backroad on reports of a fully engulfed structure fire.
Firefighters told deputies on the scene that they spoke with the property owners, who said they had been cleaning out the residence following the death of a close relative. When asked about the fire, one man said he must have left a cigarette burning, causing the mobile home to go up in flames.
The Sheriff’s Office contacted the Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office, who was dispatched to investigate the blaze.
The fire, authorities say, is still under investigation.
