LICKING COUNTY, Ohio — Several inmates and two corrections officers were sent to the hospital Sunday afternoon after a potential exposure to fentanyl inside the Licking County Justice Center.
Officials said five inmates in total were treated by medical staff. Two of the inmates suffered a serious adverse reaction to the powerful synthetic opiate.
The Sheriff said the inmates and corrections officers are “doing well” following the incident.
The Licking Sheriff, Randy Thorp, said detectives and the Drug Task Force are investigating how the fentanyl got inside of the facility.
