CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Detectives in Chillicothe are investigating a case of identity theft after a man told investigators that someone purchased a truck in his name.
The reported incident occurred at the Herrnstein Automotive Group in Chillicothe.
According to the police report obtained by the Guardian, detectives spoke with an employee of the dealership who said a 2021 Ford F-150 was sold on October 12 to a person named “Milton Kong” of New York. The transactions, the dealership said, occurred via phone, fax, and email. An ID and insurance for Mr. Kong were also provided to the dealership, as well as a social security number.
On October 19, an unknown subject arrived at the dealership to take possession of the truck.
Yesterday the dealership said they received a call from a person saying their name was Milton Kong. The individual told the dealership that he had been the victim of identity theft and denied being involved in the purchase of the automobile.
Officials with the Chillicothe Police Department say that they have yet to receive any calls from the subject regarding the alleged fraud.
The investigation, authorities said, is ongoing.
