ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The trial of a Ross County correctional officer accused of sexually assaulting a child is scheduled to begin this week.
Brian C. Adeva was indicted by a Ross County grand jury in March on 4 counts of gross sexual imposition and 5 counts of rape involving a child under the age of 13.
According to court records obtained by the Guardian, allegations against the corrections officer date back as far as 2016.
A spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections said Adeva was placed on unpaid administrative leave on March 22 pending the outcome of his case.
If convicted, Adeva could spend over half a century behind bars.
