CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe parking enforcement officer is off the job after being arrested for the violent assault of an ex-girlfriend.
Gerald Logan, 55, was arrested for domestic violence in August of this year after the mother of his child reported to police that she had been hospitalized following a violent attack.
The Guardian broke the story over the summer.
According to police reports and statements from the victim at the time, it all started after the woman was cooking food and was trying to co-parent the two’s young children, who were home during the beating. The adults started to fight after a tone Logan allegedly took toward the woman’s cooking.
“She alleged Logan shoved her down by her neck and began kicking her. She stated Logan kicked her in the leg and chest, where she still had bruises,” an officer wrote in his report. “I observed a bruise on her right leg and another large bruise on her right breast, which were photographed to be used as evidence. At which time, [she] stated she grabbed a knife to try and defend herself. According to [the victim], Logan grabbed a handgun, and she heard him chamber a round. She stated she thought she was going to die. She stated Logan began striking her with the pistol, approximately six or seven times in the side of the head, rendering her unconscious and causing significant damage to her inner ear.”
Police wrote in their report that the woman was unconscious for an unknown amount of time before she woke up and went to the hospital.
“She stated when she woke up, she left the residence as fast as she could …. [she] stated she was bleeding profusely, for seven hours, out of her left ear. Hospital staff told her that she had a ruptured ear drum as well as other internal injuries to her ear, resulting in major hearing loss. [The victim] stated she received eleven stitches to the inside of her ear.”
The City of Chillicothe, Human Resources director, Terrill Barnes told the Guardian that “Mr. Logan is not currently employed with the City of Chillicothe.” Barnes did not specify if Logan was fired or resigned from his position.
Gerald Logan’s case is expected to go to trial in December. Logan claims that he acted in self-defense during the incident.
