CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Corey J. Cottrill has been selected as the 2022 Trooper of the Year at the Chillicothe Post. The selection of Trooper Cottrill, 32, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2022 at the Chillicothe Post, according to Assistant Post Commander Sergeant Bobby Brown.
“Trooper Cottrill was selected for this award by his peers, because of his enthusiastic work attitude, leadership abilities, community engagement, and his level of professionalism with his supervisors, peers, and the public,” Brown said. “Trooper Cottrill is now in contention for the District and State Trooper of the Year Awards, which will be announced at a later date.”
Trooper Cottrill previously received the Criminal Patrol Award in 2018, the ACE Award in 2020 and 2021. He joined the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 2014 and was a member of the 157th Academy Class. Upon his graduation, Cottrill served at the Gallipolis Post
prior to Chillicothe. He attended Huntington High School in Ross County, where he and his wife, Allison, live with their two children, Cayne and Calvin.
