ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff’s Office responded to an “incident” at the juvenile detention center in Ross County.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Several deputies responded to the Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) on Cattail Road for two male inmates who were “tearing up” their housing unit.
Initial reports indicate that the two juvenile inmates continued to cause a disturbance until deputies arrived. One juvenile, reports say, voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement. The second juvenile was later taken into custody.
Additional charges against the teens, the sheriff’s office said, could be forthcoming.
Significant damage to the facility was reported by the sheriff’s office.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident have not been released to the media at this time.
